As of January 2017, the latest partner to join the hypertension and diabetes program is Amref Health Africa which is Africa’s largest International NGO. Through their existing partnerships with County Governments and wide base of Community Health Workers, Amref allows a greater reach to the grass roots on the disease burden for NCDs.
The first joint screening pilot was held in January 2017 in Kibera where 85 patients were screened for hypertension and diabetes following mobilisation of CHWs two weeks prior to create awareness about the diseases.
