Tuesday 3rd July 2018 was an interesting day for members of our screening team. A group of us including two members from Takeda, four members from AMREF and a film crew set out at 6 am for Ilatu Dispensary, which is located in Makueni County. Having screened over 3,000 people, most of whom had never been screened for diabetes or hypertension before, Ilatu is the busiest location out of the eight county facilities in which we are active.
The team set out to interview the nurses and community health workers at the facility, as well as the patients to determine the effectiveness of the program on the ground. We had the privilege of speaking to patients both new and on recurring treatment on their experience. Watch this space for an exciting documentary!
