SIGONA GOLF CLUB SCREENING
On 19th September 2017, PANAHF was invited to join Sigona Golf Club’s annual CSR screening. The 10-hour day saw over a thousand patients being reviewed not only for diabetes and hypertension but also cancer, kidney and nutritional issues among others. PRIVATE FACILITIES IN DENSELY POPULATED AREAS
Although the County governments have several facilities scattered in their domains, public health facilities are usually overburdened and are supplemented by private health facilities that cater to the market demographics in the area. The pricing of services at these facilities does not necessarily mean exorbitant prices, however there is always room to improve access. MASS SCREENINGS
Over 800 people were screened at mass interventions held in Dagoretti, Namelock and Ilatu. The success led to fruitful conversations with the respective county governments to hold mass screenings on scheduled dates and conduct daily screening at selected health facilities (more…)
PARTNERSHIP WITH AMREF HEALTH AFRICA
As of January 2017, the latest partner to join the hypertension and diabetes program is Amref Health Africa which is Africa’s largest International NGO. Through their existing partnerships with County Governments and wide base of Community Health Workers, Amref allows a greater reach to the grass roots on the disease burden for NCDs. MOU SIGNING
The official signing of the partnership with Takeda for the hypertension and diabetes screening was done on 28th August 2016 during the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development. This was the first TICAD held in Africa in its over 20 years of history.
